Boasting more than 9,000 entries, the International Wine Challenge (IWC) has cemented its place as the best and biggest blind tasting in the world. A large part of the IWC's reputation is down to the quality and experience of its judges. This year, more than 465 winemakers, merchants and writers from around the world took part, including the likes of Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin MW and Jancis Robinson MW, alongside a panel of more than 40 Masters of Wine.

The consistent quality of the judges and their judging has earned global respect for the International Wine Challenge throughout the wine-making community. The IWC Judges are the world’s finest selection of wine judges assembled at any one time. A powerful endorsement for any medal-winning wine.

Shine Awards - for innovative design using glass - 3rd in International Section - Pierrel.
The Shine Award winners were chosen by a group of judges from the design, packaging and marketing professions - David Phelps, board creative director of Design Bridge Structure, Terry Robins, packaging innovation manager of J.S. Sainsbury, Jim Mulholland, packaging development manager of John Lewis Partnership and Hannah Davies of CCL Foods.

Judges' comments: "This bottle follows the classic Champagne design, but the use of an innovative UV sensitive sleeve has created a pack that is not only great fun but which no doubt stood out during the Paris Film Festival, for which this pack was designed."

Rosé Champagne. Something which was once regarded as a mere fad in the Champagne world has now turned into a serious addition to the portfolio of Champagne styles. For this reason, Wine & Spirit Magazine set itself the task of finding the best Rosé Champagne in the UK. Out the 56 best-known Champagnes tasted by an expert panel in June 2008, our very own Pierrel 'Les Traditions' Brut Rosé came 5th, while Pierrel 'Les Floressences' Brut Rosé came 29th.
